A lad from Mayo found his childhood diary dedicated to Spongebob, and it's brilliant

“I wish I was yellow like you and have holes in my body like you.”

THIS IS JACK Rowe, an 18-year-old secondary school student from Ballina, Co Mayo.

Rowe recently discovered his old diary from 2007, when he was nine years old. It wasn’t just any old diary though – it was dedicated to the cartoon Spongebob Squarepants.

When we say dedicated, we mean dedicated. The diary contained loads of fan letters to Spongebob, detailing his Jack and his friends’ love for the character:

I wish I was yellow like you and have holes in my body like you. Maybe I can paint my face yellow and drill holes in my face!

He was also very concerned about the character Squidward, wishing he could be nicer to Spongebob and Patrick:

Same, Jack, same.

Rowe posted some pages from the diary on Twitter where it seemed to touch something in other teens who grew up with the cartoon – as it stands, the diary has been retweeted over 900 times.

He told DailyEdge.ie that he’s “slightly embarrassed” the tweet has gone so viral. “Like it’s all so nuts,” he said.

To be honest, I don’t really want Spongebob to be my claim to fame.
